Oh the things I (Linda) get myself into…
Just ask my mom, the football & baseball expert in our family. I’ve never been a sports fan – only attended games that my siblings were in because, duh, they are my siblings. Then I married a Kentucky basketball fanatic (they are just as bad as TX Aggies & football). And I became a Wildcat fan, then a Spurs fan. Now I’m dressed in orange and all about the Roadrunners! My mom hardly recognizes me…
Now, as David has mentioned, we are also tailgaters. Out of control, over the top, tailgaters…
I don’t remember how the whole “30th anniversary trip” idea came to be but here we are. Following the UTSA football team to all of the away games; complete with tailgate paraphernalia. So much paraphernalia that the OSU tailgaters dubbed my SUV “the clown car”!
Lynn Hickey was the one who suggested blogging the season’s travels and, of course, we (David) had to take it one step further. A webcam…
David is the techie (read – geek) in this house and took care of creating this blog and setting up the tailgate-cam, I’m in charge of cooking & all things crafty. That doesn’t mean I’m stuck coming up with the ideas… he’s really good at saying, “wouldn’t it be cool if…”. I’m just crazy enough to produce them. LOL He also designed our banners.
Thanks to a little creativity and paint, most of you are familiar with our “boys” George and Little Rowdy (new star of FSN, thanks to an OSU tailgate kidnapping). This year took a bit more work to introduce their new friend, the Minion. Plus our Rowdy Texas flag and a couple of new tablecloths.
Poor Minion has not been named yet. There have been several suggestions, some good, some not so good. The latest consideration is in honor of our first random out-of-state “Runner” fan encounter; a slightly homesick (Okla. Central Univ.) student that was our breakfast waiter in Edmond, OK. I was originally going for “Phillip” until one of the team moms said “Little Phil”. It sort of stuck with me – what do you think?
